House Tour

After a short month of house hunting we came across this house. (If you look closely that black smudge in the front window is our puppy keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood squirrels).
We saw several lovely houses that we could envision ourselves living in, but there was something about this house that we fell in love with immediately. It was in very well kept condition, clean, and a step out of the 1960s. It had been owned by one family since it was built, a sort of Yours, Mine, and Ours family situation I believe. The house was obviously well-loved and cared for. Since it is in great condition, we just get the fun part of updating it! Here is a little tour (Sorry about a lot of the before pictures. Of all days of house hunting I forgot the camera and had to use my crappy phone camera).

Our entryway was one of our first projects. Here is the Before picture...
...and after lots of paint we came up with the After...
And now the Update...

Here is the living room Before...
And here is the In Progress...
And the Update (still needs tweaking)...
Leaving the entryway you come into the dining room. This room has changed quite a bit. Here is the Before...
We decided to add a sliding door where the window used to be, strip wall paper, and add picture frame molding under the chair rail. Here is the In Progress...
Then the room changed into a sunroom after we moved the dining table into the kitchen area.

Next comes the kitchen. This has since been gutted and redone (well almost done). Here is the Before...
And the After (just need to do something about the lighting and ceiling!)...
From the kitchen you can see the family room. It originally had dark wood paneling which made it similar to a cave. It only has one small window, so it doesn't get much light. We painted the paneling white and changed out the light fixtures, but this room is still in progress. Here is the Before...
...and the After In Progress (sorry about the grainy picture, like I said the room is dark)...
From the family room you come into the guest room. This was an addition apparently. Here is the Before...
and the In Progress...(update: this has since turned into my sister's room and looks completely different)

There's our house for now.

  1. There are a lot of houses to choose from in the market nowadays. But there will be one house that you will fall in love with. And I’m glad that you finally found yours with this house. It looks lovely, especially when you added your own touch. Have fun in your amazing home!
