Yard sale finds

I love thrift store shopping, but I hardly ever go to yard sales...until this weekend. I did not find much, but there were a few things I snagged. Here's a couple of the items:
A vintage fan

A milk glass stand

Play time

We took today off from household projects to play at the beach!

Now it's time to plan our next project. Stay tuned!

Guest Bath

Our guest bath was ugly. A formica cabinet and counter top, wall paper, and a dated mirror and light fixture. However, we didn't want to spend much to fix it up now because eventually we want to gut it and start over. So a temporary fix was a must. Here is the before...
Hollywood lights...

So with a little hard work and some creativity we came up with this...
Molding, paint, and peel and stick tiles made over the vanity very inexpensively. The sink was used from Habitat for Humanity's Restore. The faucet and light fixture were from our local hardware store.

Eventually we plan on replacing the vanity, mirror, and flooring, and perhaps tweaking the layout, but this works for now!

About us

Welcome to our home, a manor of mischief. My name is Kristen and I live with my husband Brandon and my mischievous puppy Millie, a 2 year old energetic, curious, and lovable Australian Sheprador. I work as a nurse, and my husband works with juvenile delinquents. In our spare time we like to swim, run, hike, camp, laze around, and of course work on our house. We bought our 1960s brick rancher in December 2010 and we've been working slowly but surely on updating our home ever since. We're learning as we go, trying to be as thrifty as possible. Hope you enjoy!
